Events during Kunsttage Basel in English

In this article we have compiled selected events that are aimed at English speakers, are language-flexible or have no language reference.

Start into Kunsttage Basel with the performance "La lévitation réelle" at the Rhine riviera. Visit the exhibition "Universal Tongue" by Anouk Kruithof at Museum Tinguely with free admission and enjoy the music in the lounge from 6 pm. Afterwards, you can take part in a guided tour of the current exhibition "Des rencontres et des liens" at Meyer Riegger. "Huddle", the groundbreaking performance by American artist Simone Forti will be re-enacted at 7 pm at Claraplatz.

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday Art Lab offers peer-to-peer tours through the Kunsttage for and by young people in German and English. Sign up here!

"I was / But I am" is premiering in its 24 hour version and will take place on seven different squares in Basel. Check out Oreilles Internaxionales and experience a WORMS performance by artist Simon Buckley before discovering Mounir Fatmi’s installations at the opening of his exhibition "The Point of No Return" at Galerie Wilde or join the Homeland in Transit project for drinks and a workshop about the streets of Hongkong.

From 8 pm, enjoy a DJ-Set at the "Matthias Wyss" exhibition at Rhytmus Messy Cambio. There is more music at the House of Electronic Arts on Dreispitz, where the opening of the new exhibition will be celebrated with a party in the museum's basement.

Start off with a tour and croissants at Galerie Knoell’s show about Dadamaino at 11 am or visit the British Vitrine Gallery and seize the last opportunity to see Martin Chramosta’s show with a guided tour by the artist himself.

The Klingental studios are launching a donation campaign for refugees from Ukraine. Go see the artworks selected for the auction in the open studios at the Atelierhaus and get to know local artists. At 2 pm, off-space Voltage offers a walk-in workshop where you can learn how to work with concrete. Or bring your houseplant and join the collective walk by artist Sergio Rojas Chaves also at 2 pm. Round off the day with Alexandra Bachzetsis performance at Baloise Kunstforum near the train station or stay a little bit longer in the city and visit the DJs playing in the Kunstmuseum Innenhof starting around 8 pm.

Sign up at 3pm for the curator’s tour with director Elena Filipovic through the current Kunsthalle exhibitions "You, Who Are Still Alive" by Michael Armitage and "Hic et Nunc" by Berenice Olmedo. Or: If you are feeling creative yourself, sign up for a workshop at the Cartoonmuseum Basel or at Villa Renata. Both workshops welcome kids!

Travel out to Fondation Beyeler that presents a special screening of «Pretty much every film and video from 1992 until now.» by Scottish artist Douglas Gordon. When in Riehen also visit Galerie Henze & Ketterer & Triebold and ask them for a free individual tour through their exhibition of modern classics. Finish off your Kunsttage experience with a visit of the Basler Münster Kreuzgang and witness Isaac Chong Wai's closing performance for Kunsttage Basel.
